Lyrarakis Kotsifali 2006

The color was not intense, perhaps because Kotsifali, a grape mostly cultivated in Creta-Greece, does not give wines with intensive color. The taste was pleasant with balanced acidity you expect to find in younger wines.
The aromas were bringing into memory red berries jam. It is a different and an interesting wine due to the uniqueness of the grape variety.

My Grating: 83/100, I will buy this wine again

Pommery Champagne Brut Royal

Pommery Champagne Brut Royal

Great deal in respect to value for money. This non vintage champagne is really great (at least for 35 Euros). Crispy taste with fine bobbles that pleasantly will tickle your palate. You will also taste the fruits (perhaps some berries from Pinot Noir) behind the pleasant acidity and the bobbles.

My Rating: 88/100. Definitely buy again

Chateau de Seguin 2003

Chateau de Seguin 2003

Cuvee: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot,Cabernet Franc
Bordeaux

Typical sample of an affordable Bordeaux wine. It aged well for 6 years, with a red-brown color. Aromas of chocolate and black pepper and some fruit. Boldness in taste makes it taste strong with only 12.5% of alcohol.
Price: aprox. 10 Euro

My review: 82/100. I will buy it again (if I find it).

Cabernet Sauvignon 13%

Methy 2001, K & K Vasiliko Winery

Cabernet Sauvignon 13%

Both vintage (2001 - 9 years) and color, red-brown, prepare us for an aging wine. Unfortunately this wine is disappointing, without character and unique characteristics it lacks perfumes and pleasant stimuli to the tongue and palate. The label says about male fragrances and flavors, but all these stays on the label, not in the wine. The tannins are absent (probably are gone), and so is barrel taste (very weak). Acidity is the only characteristic taste. Otherwise flat and without enthusiasm. Maybe this wine in a newer vintage will be better.

63/100, I would not suggest this wine

Regional wine Limassol (maybe Grenache, Lefkada, Cabernet Sauvignon),
Kilani Limassol Cyprus
2008
Winery Vlasidi

Pleasant tannins and vividness because of the
acidity. Aromas and flavors of red berries, especially cherry and raspberry. Limited bouquet. Refreshing taste when enjoyed in low (12-14C) temperatures.
Pricing is very good (maybe the best Cyprus red for only € 5) with high value / money ratio.
86/100 definitely will buy again.

Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Marlborough

Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2009

New Zealand, Marlborough
Sauvignon Blanc
2009
Cava Remuage, Paphos Cyprus

The first nose is grassy with notes or citrus and lemon. The taste is bold and crispy. It is definitely very refreshing. Drink it as fresh as possible.

Raring 85/100. I would definitely buy this wine again.

Why this blog?

Hello everybody,

You should all wonder why this blog? Why bother? Well, it is because I needed somewhere to "dump" my thoughts and findings about tasting wine and maybe share it with friends and other people who will come across this blog.

Please bare with me and all I write. Sometimes I will write in Greek which is my mother language but I will try to write in English.

Please feel more than welcome to send me you your ideas and comments. Please note that I have no personal interest or desire to have personal interest on my review.
